BLAZE BAYLEY: Irish Shows Cancelled
October 1, 2008The web site of the UK-based heavy metal vocalist Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) whose wife/manager Debbiepassed away last week, has been updated with the following message:
"Unfortunately, we have been forced to postpone our three shows in Eire and Northern Ireland scheduled for next week. Believe it or not, this is not a decision that we take lightly.
"We will be playing the gig this Saturday at the Metieval Festival in Beverley; one of the primary reasons being that it was the first festival show booked by Debbie this year and Blaze wants to do it as a tribute to her. But with Debbie's funeral next week, we have felt it best to move the three shows we have in Ireland. Blaze needs some time to recharge, and so do the rest of us.
"We are very very sorry that we have been forced to do this. We were — and still are — really looking forward to coming to Ireland and whipping up a headbanging storm over there as only the Irish can do! It's always been a favourite country of ours to play, whether in this band or others that we have been in.
"We are currently talking to the promoter and should have some rescheduled dates for these shows very soon.
"On a seperate note many thanks from Blaze, Debbie's family and the band for all of the messages of support. They are all read and all appreciated.
"We will see you on the road soon..."
Blaze Bayley's new album, "The Man Who Would Not Die", was mixed by former WOLFSBANE guitarist Jase Edwards at Jase's studio in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. Released on July 7 via Bayley's own independent label (with additional licensing to various countries),the CD was engineered by James Dunkley, produced by Blaze Bayley and it takes Blaze in new songwriting directions, ushering in a new phase of an already renowned career. It is also the first recorded showcase for Blaze's new lineup.
Jukka Penttinen of Finland's Get In The Pit TV conducted an interview with Blaze Bayley before Blaze's April 18, 2008 concert how at Vanha in Helsinki. Watch the interview in two parts below.
